Places to Visit

ASKOS STONE PARK

The park is located in the north of the island close to St Nicholas Port. It is well sign posted and open all year round.  There is plenty of parking,  but as far as I know the only way to get there is by car, there are no excursion trips.  Most of the animals are easily accessible and most like chickens, deer and peacocks roam free.  The racoons are caged but beware of tiny fingers as they bite. You can walk around the whole of the park in about half an hour, but of course looking at the animals and feeding them will make it much longer.  There are some benches so you can sit and have a picnic.  The few times I have been there it has never been busy and at least once have had the place to myself.  The paths and steps are very uneven it is not good for the disabled and you will probably struggle with a pushchair however children will love it but beware the safety standards are not equivalent to the UK so keep a watchful eye on the children. The keepers will give you some of the leaves the deer like to feed on and they also have racoon food, they take it in their hands do not go near their mouth as they can give a nasty bite.  The best time to visit is early or late in the day as if it is very hot the animals will be hidden in the shade. I love the place and have been several times.

Summer it is open every day from sunrise to sunset.
